Cookie Policy
Last updated: 1 January 2026
This policy explains what cookies cicikim.com uses, what each one does, and how you can manage your preferences. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They allow the site to remember certain information — such as whether you have already seen a notice — across page loads and visits. Cookies do not give us access to your device or any other information beyond what they store.
2. Cookies we use
Essential cookies — these cannot be switched off because the site cannot function properly without them.
- cicikim_cookie — stores your cookie-consent preference (accepted or declined). Expires after 365 days. Set by cicikim.com.
No personal data is transmitted by this cookie. It is a single string ("accepted" or "declined") stored in your browser's localStorage. Your preference is not sent to any server.
Analytics cookies (optional) — set only if you click "Accept all" on the cookie banner.
- _ga, _gid (or equivalent) — used to distinguish visitors and sessions for aggregate usage statistics. Data is anonymised before processing: IP addresses are truncated and not stored in identifiable form. Set by the analytics provider. Expires: _ga after 2 years, _gid after 24 hours.
Analytics data is used only to understand how the site is used in aggregate — which pages are visited, how long sessions last, and what general region visitors come from. We do not use this data to build individual profiles or serve advertising.
3. Cookies we do not use
We do not use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, social media cookies, or retargeting cookies. We do not embed third-party widgets (such as social share buttons or video players) that place their own cookies.
4. Managing your preferences
When you first visit the site, a banner appears at the bottom of the screen. You can choose "Accept all" (essential + analytics) or "Essential only". Your choice is saved in the cicikim_cookie entry in your browser's localStorage.
To change your preference later, you can clear your browser's site data for cicikim.com, which will remove the stored preference and show the banner again on your next visit. Instructions for clearing site data vary by browser:
- Chrome: Settings > Privacy and security > Cookies and other site data > See all cookies
- Firefox: Settings > Privacy and Security > Cookies and Site Data > Manage Data
- Safari: Preferences > Privacy > Manage Website Data
- Edge: Settings > Cookies and site permissions > Manage and delete cookies and site data
You can also opt out of analytics tracking at any time by declining cookies in your browser settings, using browser extensions such as uBlock Origin, or by visiting the analytics provider's opt-out page.
5. Local storage
In addition to cookies, we use the browser's localStorage API to store your cookie-consent preference. localStorage stores data on your device only — it is not transmitted to any server. You can clear localStorage via your browser's developer tools or the site-data clearing options described above.
6. Changes to this policy
If we add new cookies or change how we use existing ones, we will update this page and the "last updated" date above. Significant changes will be announced via the cookie banner.
